(funky instrumental music) ♪ hey, what's up, guys? today we're driving a tesla model sthat i got off kijiji. and we're going to go pick upandy byford who is the grand masterof the ttc. so i'm goingto pick him up from the subway station
and let's talksome ttc talk. let me unlock itfor you. how does it... oh, here it is. it's on the screen,of course. there's no buttons.it's a screen. that's a good start. how are you? i'm good, thanks.
it's very unusual, actually, for meto be in a car. i'm normallyon the ttc. the subway's my car, the company caras i call it. do you like beingin a car? yeah, i do. i mean, i failed mydriving test twice which is kind ofmy claim to shame.
do you ever have like... there's a car in your heartthat's like, i really need-- i would love to ownsomething like a british racinggreen triumph tr6, an old sports car. yeah, yeah, yeah. or an mgb roadster, something like that but-- how british of you, both of those. yeah, there you go.
okay, now we're drivinga tesla. and it's a fullyelectric car? it's the way to go.it's the way of the future. and we're looking at,the ttc, we're now looking at--beginning to think about what are we going go dowith electric buses and stuff. so, you're talkingabout all these advancements for the ttc, how will they workin unison with car?
because i feel like they don'treally get along those two. sure, it's a mustthat it's complementary. you've got, the more peopleuse transit, the more room there ison the road for people who have to usea car. so, you know what'sgoing on here, right? the road's closed. so, naturally, it's--they're building an lrt so the central partof it goes underground
so underneath this, there's two huge great tunnels. under this? at the either end,it comes aboveground, but along here, it's going underground. my advice to you isavoid eglinton if you can for the next few yearsbecause it's going to be-- but what aboutthe bagel brigade? i really want to be part of theteam that gets the ttc
back to number 1in north america, which we used to be. most days, the ttc moves1.8 million people. it's the third largest transitin north america. here's your quiz question:what are the 2 that are bigger? i'd say new york. correct. and... chicago? nope.that's number 4, i think.
it's actuallymexico city. what?! so here's somethingthat really bugs me. and we've nearly crunched itbut obviously not yet. see that first bus?32. what's this bus?32. we don't want to seetwo buses bunched uplike that. we're really blitzingthat at the moment.
so how are yougoing to figure that out? take awaytheir benefits. take away their dental. you said that.i didn't. so, i've got to goto st. clare. catch the company car? it's been a blast. it has.you've enlightened me. so you're a ttc fan now?you're a convert.
i am. look,as a little memento, i brought you a little giftfrom the ttc. oh, thank you. wear that with pride. take care. it's one of them. a fancy car. there you go.
so i think there's a reasonhe gave me this because i feelit's like a vip pin for a top secret trainthat they're probably building. yeah, that sounds aboutexactly right.
