porsche sports car

launch control, check. works. one of the nice thingson the new porsche panamera. there are more nice things.we will talk about all of them. first, we start with the looks, becausethat was the problem with the previous one. many people thought it looked like a pooping dog. i do not know that was before or after our articlein which we compared the car to a pooping dog, but many people thought that way.nothing can be done. the design was there and we had to deal with it. i think the post-facelift versionlooks a lot better, but now...

a new design for the panamera. look at it. i think it's a success. porsche worked hard to usethe 911's lines in the design. it has a longer, sloping butt; not thedrop-off rear of the previous panamera. the car has grown in all directions. it is longer, higher and wider, but it looks smaller. i think it is a good design. compare it to other business sedans. i think the audi a8 or mercedes s-classdo not look better, but i did so before.

the interior is completely different as well. where to begin? everything is new and different. it has a huge center display. it works nice and quickly. there are many options.you can adjust and set many things. you will have to go through this the first time, because you can set a lot to the driver and save it with a memory setting. there are so many things, you will have to takeyour time if you are ever going to buy this car. alright, the gopro is stuck on.

let's see if this works. 0-100 kph (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds. we are doing 180 kph (112 mph) already. let me keep my eyes on the road and see how farwe can go before there is another camper trailer. it is crazy how quiet and stable this car remains. it is really... it is the ultimate... i will slow down so you canhear me better; less wind. it eats up the miles.

going fast is effortless. we are driving the diesel version,so we have a nice range. you drive it to southern austriain one go after work on friday, to your favorite ski area or your own chalet. if you can afford a panamera, you canafford your own cottage in a ski area. you will go skiing for two daysand go back on sunday evening. monday morning you sit atthe board meeting. no problem. wonderful. we are driving the 4s diesel version.

it has 416 hp. that is not the most exciting number. more so, it is the least powerful panamerayou can order at the moment. there are the normal 4s with 444 hpand the turbo with 542 hp. crazy cars, of course. we will see a lot of the diesels. it is nice to finally have this engine in the panamera. the v8 did not fit in the previous panamera. that is why we had to wait for the new one to makethe v8, which we know from the cayenne, fit.

what an engine. 416 hp, 850 nm (627 lb ft) torque. if you order it with a sport plus package,it does 0-100 kph (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds. porsche says this makes it the fastestdiesel car you can buy at the moment. i am ready to believe that.i do not know what car is faster. if you want a gasoline engine, you get to choose from two engines, but there will be more.there will be a turbo s, a gts... all flavors of the previous panamera will be made. even though the car has grown...it is lighter, but bigger. it does not feel like you are driving a huge car.

of course, you can get the optional sport plus unit. this gives you the switch onthe steering wheel you can turn from... it is in comfort mode now.in sport it shifts down a gear. in sport plus it shifts down another gear. fun. you can also choose individualfor your own settings. it changes the suspension, everything. porsche tried to create a wide rangebetween very comfortable and very sporty. i am now in 'very sporty' because we droveon the autobahn and i wanted to feel good. i switch to comfort now and youfeel all the roughness disappear.

it sways a bit more. you can almost call it soft, but it isn't. you set all this in the new center console. a lot of buttons disappeared. those who knew the previous panamera knowit was the car with the most buttons ever made. it is bizarre. there were somany buttons for the a/c and everything. porsche minimized this as much as possible. only the things you really need, such asthe suspension settings and esp switch, you can change with the touch of a button.

it is a kind of touch panel, but it has hapticfeedback. you feel you are doing something. a lot has been hidden in the centraldisplay, where all the car's settings, such as climate control, can be set up. fortunately, climate control has a unit onthe center console for quick adjustments. another new thing is the instrument cluster. porsche probably cheated with audi or volkswagen. their virtual cockpit was copied here. the central gauge, the rev counter,is still analogous. i think that is cool, becausethe old 911s had a row of gauges.

you can change it by turning this button. there are 5 gauges in a row. i can set my lap timer, g-forces, or normal clock. however, the central gauge, the rev counter, remained analogous. i think that is cool they did this, because it is what a porsche should have. it is a characteristic porsche design element. i think they should keep this, evenwhen everyone uses only digital stuff. the typical porsche sports-car feel is everywhere. the handling is nice and sporty.

it is sportier than you wouldexpect from a business sedan. by switching everything to 'soft', i can drive relaxed. yet, everything remains typically porsche. i think that is well done, because this caris far removed from the brand's core value. still, they did it. if i would want to buy a bigger, sporty car, i would know. the problem is money, because this isa porsche and not the cheapest car in the world. at the moment it starts at133,000 euros for the panamera 4s. there will probably be a normalpanamera below it; the non-s.

if it is like that. i don't know. they have not announced it yet,but it will probably be made. it will be cheaper. this panamera s diesel is 10,000 euros extraat 143,000 euros, but you will tick some boxes. the price will go up. the new turbo is a lot more expensive, but it has the sexy wing you all want. i don't get it, because it is justa retractable rear wing that widens. the previous panamera had one on someeditions, but no matter. do what you want. i have to say it looks sexy.

you only get it on the turbo. this onehas a boring retractable wing. very boring. we will show you a couple of times. three times. we have plenty of footage. it is not very exciting. i will put it in sport plus. it is fortunate we are driving this car, because we have a plane to catch. we keep the pedal to the metal. made possible bynieuweautokopen.nl subtitles - maru's text support

owning a sports car

it's an aggressive athlete, ready to sprint, more trained than ever, in circuit is an arrow, on the road a lust. the audi r8 v10 plus, top model of the r8 range, will be launched in autumn and will be the most powerful and fastest audi ever produced. the v10 plus adopts the configuration of 610 hp and 560 nm, it takes 3.2 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h and the maximum speed reaches 330 km/h. a real beast, with all-wheel drive and dual-clutch gearbox s-tronic 7-speed.

in the fast direction changes, controls offer to driver a great feeling with the car, and in the corners wide-ranging, to deal with full throttle, the "gs" of lateral acceleration test all his muscles, while the german supercar remains glued to the ideal line. light and fast, the r8 v10 plus runs on the asphalt privileged with great dynamism, without neglecting the comfort of driving: suspensions adapt the shock absorbers to the requirements of the driver and the road conditions. all this for having the luxury of owning a sports car and, above all, that it is also suitable for everyday use.

the audi r8 v10 plus comes as the road model closer to the racing world.

(funky instrumental music) ♪ hey, what's up, guys? today we're driving a tesla model sthat i got off kijiji. and we're going to go pick upandy byford who is the grand masterof the ttc. so i'm goingto pick him up from the subway station

and let's talksome ttc talk. let me unlock itfor you. how does it... oh, here it is. it's on the screen,of course. there's no buttons.it's a screen. that's a good start. how are you? i'm good, thanks.

it's very unusual, actually, for meto be in a car. i'm normallyon the ttc. the subway's my car, the company caras i call it. do you like beingin a car? yeah, i do. i mean, i failed mydriving test twice which is kind ofmy claim to shame.

do you ever have like... there's a car in your heartthat's like, i really need-- i would love to ownsomething like a british racinggreen triumph tr6, an old sports car. yeah, yeah, yeah. or an mgb roadster, something like that but-- how british of you, both of those. yeah, there you go.

okay, now we're drivinga tesla. and it's a fullyelectric car? it's the way to go.it's the way of the future. and we're looking at,the ttc, we're now looking at--beginning to think about what are we going go dowith electric buses and stuff. so, you're talkingabout all these advancements for the ttc, how will they workin unison with car?

because i feel like they don'treally get along those two. sure, it's a mustthat it's complementary. you've got, the more peopleuse transit, the more room there ison the road for people who have to usea car. so, you know what'sgoing on here, right? the road's closed. so, naturally, it's--they're building an lrt so the central partof it goes underground

so underneath this, there's two huge great tunnels. under this? at the either end,it comes aboveground, but along here, it's going underground. my advice to you isavoid eglinton if you can for the next few yearsbecause it's going to be-- but what aboutthe bagel brigade? i really want to be part of theteam that gets the ttc

back to number 1in north america, which we used to be. most days, the ttc moves1.8 million people. it's the third largest transitin north america. here's your quiz question:what are the 2 that are bigger? i'd say new york. correct. and... chicago? nope.that's number 4, i think.

it's actuallymexico city. what?! so here's somethingthat really bugs me. and we've nearly crunched itbut obviously not yet. see that first bus?32. what's this bus?32. we don't want to seetwo buses bunched uplike that. we're really blitzingthat at the moment.

so how are yougoing to figure that out? take awaytheir benefits. take away their dental. you said that.i didn't. so, i've got to goto st. clare. catch the company car? it's been a blast. it has.you've enlightened me. so you're a ttc fan now?you're a convert.

i am. look,as a little memento, i brought you a little giftfrom the ttc. oh, thank you. wear that with pride. take care. it's one of them. a fancy car. there you go.

so i think there's a reasonhe gave me this because i feelit's like a vip pin for a top secret trainthat they're probably building. yeah, that sounds aboutexactly right.

ciao everyone, here it's marchettino. today with this beast that i'm driving in japan, i wanna show you how quickly the gt-r accelerates even if it's raining and by doing so, i will try a launch control! right, in order to engage launch control on the nissan gt-r, you have to set all the settings such as the transmission, the suspension and the traction on " r mode ". left foot on the brake, right foot on the throttle and when it arrives at 4000rpms i'm gonna leave the brake pedal. that was furious! holy crap!

this is the launch control of the nissan gt-r! wow!

new sports car

(piano music) (electronic music) - they designed this carto be a car that somebody that appreciates the experienceof driving would enjoy. it's just really well balanced. - the car is a fun car to mod, a fun car to drive, and the possibilities are endless. - i'm caitlin hall with continental tire

and we are here today at thestreets of willow springs for the 86 showdown. the reason this week that we are here is to be able to bring ourtires to this enthusiast market and give us feedback. feedback today has been very positive and the questions they'vebeen asking is the exact things that our engineersneed to hear and to help them develop this tire to make itexactly what these drivers

are looking for for the track. a fun car to drive. i just upgraded to thejackson racing c38 charger. we had it installed and we had it tuned and everything. ready to go in less than a week. - i'm driving my 2013 scion fr-s. it's running an edelbrock supercharger. we have the delicioustuning flex fuel kit,

so i run a combination ofe85 and 91 octane fuel. we pretty much havewhiteline's complete catalogue on the vehicle, swaybars, all the bushings, adjustable lower control arms. i'm actually running a setof our prototype coilovers, which are due to be released next year. i'm here to have fun. i'm here to hang outwith a lot of the great drivers that i know and love.

but, no, the track itselfis great in location, two hours from home, youcan't beat that, right? - we're from the san francisco bay area. it was about a seven hour drive with towing coming down here. we actually got here pretty late. we got to the hotel at around three, we got a couple hours of sleep. everything is working out so far.

right now we are running stomp motors, basic bolt-ons, you know lsd, os geckons, cruise control arms, andkraftwerks supercharger. personally, i drive a lot of fr cars. it's just the design withthe weight distribution and the rear wheel drive factor. the chassis is very nice. it's very forgiving andit holds a lot of power. - this is my first time outhere at street of willow

and i wasn't exactly surewhat was going to be a good set up so all i did wasjust leave it how it was. there's a whole bunch of stuffthat's been done to this car. nothing except for therear control arms are stock on the suspension, fullexhaust, built motor, i've done some arrow, includingsome parts from the apr. it's doing really well. these continental 340treadwear extreme contact tires are actually doing quite well.

i'm not experiencingmuch at all understeer. and the oversteer behavior is really good. it's really nice, progressive breakaway. the car is being very very well behaved. - well the 86, to me,is a pretty neutral car. with our turbo kit, too,we get that extra power to be able to put downand use all the suspension and be able to use the carfor what i think it was originally intended with the extra power.

it's pretty fun to seehow everybody kind of matches up against each other. we definitely have a lot ofpower to put to the ground and the tires haveactually done surprisingly well for a street tire. the durability is more than i expected and the initial grip earlier in the day was actually really impressive. - i'm driving a scion fr-s.

it's a show car, but they'veconverted a few things to make it a track-ready vehicle. they had air bags on it before and they just swapped on some kwv3s, so that's a tremendous help for a track, having a full coil over it. this isn't my first timeat streets of willow. i have quite a bit of seat time here. i started driving here four years ago.

it's not my favorite track, but it's a good track to test handling. the tires have beensurprisingly very nice. i'm very impressed with them. for such a high tread wear, they have a lot of grip and they've been reallyconsistent and progressive throughout the whole day. - so these are great for enthusiasts that are going to havetheir regular everyday cars

and want to go out andhave a good track day. it has similar compounds towhat we have run in the past on our extreme contact dw. we have stiffened thesidewall with higher apexes to improve the sidewall handling and should help improveespecially in the curves to really get the bestperformance out of them. - we try to participatein as many of these events that are proposed to us.

it all started becausemost of us in the office are grassroots ourselves enthusiasts, so it's just something welike to participate in. keep it going becausethis sport cannot die. it won't, it won't be ahappy place if we don't have a grassroots motor sports. - it's not easy being thefirst time out on the track. a number of the people out heredriving today are my friends and i'm having a great time with them.

i'm managing to hang in therepretty good in the field, so i'm pretty excited about that. the other thing that's kindof interesting about my car is that it's actually anautomatic not a manual car. so the automatic's doingsome work out here today and i'm pretty pleased with how i'm doing. - today i'm just out here to have fun, put some fast times down, maybe beat my personal best.

this is my first timedriving a rear wheel drive. it's totally different. the lines are different. i do like the oversteerrather than the understeer. but it feels good. - i really like the 8-6 platform. i'm a huge rear wheel drive fan. i have an s2000 background, so being in the 8-6 feels pretty at home.

really forgiving on the oversteer, although it does let the back end out. - competition is very tough. a lot of fast cars and drivers. i think two secondswould be a lot to shave, but maybe a second. that would be my goal for today. we will have to step it up. - there's a lot of competition,

a lot of very veryexperienced drivers out here. most of them are going faster than i am, which i'm actually comfortable with. i'm out here to have a good time. take advantage of a lot of the benefits that super street andcontinental are offering us. the tires are performing great. they're really holding up to the heat. i would say other tires probably

wouldn't be holding up as well. - i was really hoping topodium today for the team. so hopefully we made it. i would love to be back out next year if there's another competition and if they need another driver then i would be morethan willing to come out. it's always a good time. - i think we did pretty good.

we hit a 124 at section two. it felt great, yeah. we put in a lot of hard work, my team. so everybody is happy. we can do it all over again as long as we can take first place again. so it paid off. if they have another86 showdown next year, we're definitely going to enter.

new jaguar sports car

when you've built the most beautiful car evermade, what on earth do you do for an encore? it's taken jaguar fifty years to answer thatquestion, but at last the f-type is here. the jag launches into a tough market, andone of biggest rivals is the new porsche cayman. and it just happens to cost 20,000 poundsless one of my earliest memories was riding in my dad's e-type jag when i was just 3 yearsold. and that's what got me really hooked on cars.this f type is the v6s. it's the mid point of the range between the v6 and the v8. with375 brake horse power on tap, it hits 60 miles an hour in less than five seconds. well mydad only had a volvo estate. as a kid growing up in the '80s, it was porsche that was thereal embodiment of sports cars.

to me, nobody does it better. last year, tim said the porsche 911 was thebest sports car in the world. i bet now he's saying that the cayman is just as good todrive, and it costs half the price. and this cayman's just over half the price.it's also nearly twenty thousand pounds less than the cheapest f-type. i've been right now, tim's trying to tellyou the porsche is a really good family car. well i'd been more than happy to the schoolrun twice every morning in this. look at the f-type. it looks like it's doing 100 milesan hour standing still. in comparison both porches just look a bit dull. okay [xx] okay.

so this standard cayman is about a secondslower to sixty miles an hour than the f-type. but forget about that it's handling that mattersmost. where the jaguar's got its big heavy engine out in the front, in this car the engineis right behind me, banging the middle, and that gives it near perfect weight distributionand great balance for cornering. but the f-type is like an old-fashioned musclecar, and i love it for that. the steering is really direct, and the back end is almosttoo willing to slide out. i wouldn't bank on the back tires lasting very long. old-schoolor not, it's extremely fast. but dad's old e-type wouldn't have come close. back in the real world the cayman is morepractical than you might think. there's room

for luggage in the front and in the back.back, and the combined volume is more than a ford fiesta. compare that to the shallowslot you get in the f-type. jaguar was below average for our reliability and the latestwhich car survey, the largest of its kind in the uk. porsche was better and was also it's at topfor owner satisfaction. that's all very sensible, but on the road, the jag just feels more specialand it's 8-speed automatic gear box really lives up to its quick shift name. i've alwayspreferred a manual gearbox in a sports car, but most people will pay 2 grand more forthis pdk dual-clutch auto, and i can see why. it accelerates quicker and is more economical.so what do you reckon then claire you've waited

fifty years for this car. not quite 50 years.okay not quite 50 years, but a long time. was it worth the wait? definitely. it's thebest thing to come out of coventry since the e-type. i think it's the best car of the year. it is a fantastic car, i'll give you that, but. but you'd take the cayman? you already know that. i think it's better to drive i'mconfident it would be better to live with and it's so much cheaper. but it's so predictable.well the fact is that i can't even nearly afford either of these cars. so i'm gonnabe in the cheap seats for the way home. are you coming? no thanks, i'm off to take dad for a spin.
